Good article. The West Wing is terrific and compelling series, which as you points out grapples with some hefty issues, but I've always considered it a bit of a political fantasy, in that I'd love the US to be run by such decent, well-meaning people (despite their flaws). Sadly, I just don't see that happening in real life (regardless of which political party is in power).
