Good call, as far as I'm concerned. The Marlowesque voiceover wasn't part of the original script. It was added at the insistence of the studio at the last minute. Ford hated it, and apparently tried to deliberately read it badly so it wouldn't be used (they used it regardless). I don't think it was ever needed and I much prefer viewing the other version. However, each to their own.
