Great article. I don't pay any attention to horrorscopes or the like, but here are some comments on the film choices (and a few pop music choices).
1962: Funnily enough, I recently rewatched Dr No at the cinema. Our local multiplex is showing one Bond film per week over the next umpteen weeks to celebrate Dr No's 60th anniversary.
My pick for 1962? Lawrence of Arabia.
1974: Again, I recently saw The Godfather Part II at the cinema on a rerelrease for the second time (I saw a different rerelease at the cinema in the mid 1990s). That would be my choice for 1974 too, though Chinatown would be a very close second.
1986: Aliens all the way for me, though much respect from me for picking Salvador over Platoon on the Oliver Stone front. Stand By Me or Blue Velvet would have been my second choice. Or possibly Jean De Florette? Now you've got me thinking.
As for pop music: Pet Shop Boys - Suburbia (single mix) is a top choice for me in 1986, though I could list umpteen other favourites.
1998: Saving Private Ryan almost grabs my top spot, but The Truman Show pips it to the post. Remarkable film.
Pop music: Cornershop - Brimful of Asha (single mix).
2010: Inception for film choice, hands down. But much respect for going with Senna, which would be my second choice.
