Great article. As a rather oddball Christian of no fixed denomination, I tend to fast when I feel "prompted" by God, rather than in any calendar observance. That said, I do observe Lent sometimes (again, when "prompted"). Not sure about this year though.

One thing I will add (which will doubtless raise eyebrows among sceptics and atheists): When I have fasted and prayed concerning specifics, following a "prompting", I have seen remarkable answers to these prayers. Coincidence? I think not. Though doubtless some will try to claim otherwise.
