Great article. My parents were in a cult when I was born, and I grew up within said cult until I was seven, when it finally collapsed. In later years my parents told me the full truth about what actually took place, and it informed my novel Children of the Folded Valley.

I've had several people say to me, how could your parents have been so deceived, but the truth is cults target a particular kind of vulnerable person, and also it is very difficult to break out of that deception once you are wrapped up in it.
