Great article. Heat is a masterpiece. I first saw it at a press screening as a student, and saw it a second time once it went on general release. De Niro is on particularly great form, with real subtlety and nuance in his performance. Just look at the way he responds to the other criminals with their partners and families during that dinner scene, and you can immediately tell how lonely he is. Also, that heist and street gunfight set piece is extraordinarily exciting.
