Great film. Probably my favourite film noir. :)

…Floor (1940) and Detour (1945), moral ambiguity is just that, ambiguous and circumstantial at best. However, films such as Double Indemnity (1944) leave no room for misinterpretation. It is as simple as the protagonist falling into a web of lies and spiraling into the abyss of criminality.
