Hahahahaha! I try not to use "weasel words" but I'm sure a few slip in now and then. On the other hand, I'd argue there is an occasional place for them. Someone else here commented about words like "underrated" but I think they can be used well.
You're right about the plot summary thing. I try to make any plot discussion amusing or clearly personal in some way. For instance, in my recent review of Killers of the Flower Moon, I referred to Leonardo DiCaprio's character being not too bright. I try to make it sound conversational, as though someone were talking to me, not a Wikipedia synopsis. :)
