Hello Emily. Thank you for reading and commenting on my writing.

Perhaps my remark "a particularly insufferable trend of vampire romance" was misleading, but I intended it to mean a particular iteration of vampire romance inspired by and including Twilight, rather than a blanket condemnation of all romance/sexiness in vampire films. As you rightly point out, the rest of my article includes films that contain this element, so hopefully that is evident, but it appears that statement may cause confusion.

I personally couldn't give an airborne fornication about slavish adherence to source materials, provided something original and interesting is created in its own right. If you ferret around in the rest of my writing, you'll find that's something I state time and time again, in a variety of contexts, including about the MCU. (M-she-U? Not heard that one before. Then again, I don't generally frequent the kinds of forums where one might hear such things.) Here's an example: https://medium.com/framerated/why-the-book-isnt-always-better-than-the-film-f0fd8e871fa8

Beyond that, it is hopefully evident from my choice of Bram Stoker's Dracula in this list that I don't insist on faithful adaptations at all costs. But I do have an intensely strong dislike of the Twilight series and its rather anaemic imitators, and I make no apology for that opinion, regardless of the dominant gender of the readership/viewership.
