Here's a great example: The Jungle Book (the 1967 animated Disney version). Shere Khan isn't introduced for quite a while, but when he is introduced (voiced in silky tones by the excellent George Sanders), he is instantly one of the most memorable and frightening (to small children) of all Disney animation villains.
