Hi CeeCee - To explain in more detail, we don't accept unsolicited submissions from new writers anymore due to the sheer volume of people who want to write for us (we've had to initiate this policy for our own sanity). However, these prompts are the best way to get added as a writer, as you have correctly identified, so we add new writers a few at a time. Once you are added as a writer, you can submit any articles you please (though obviously with no guarantee of publication).

Unfortunately, this month, all the prompt spots were snapped up in less than 24 hours of this prompt being announced, but I suggest you keep your eye on upcoming monthly Fanfare prompts (normally issued around the 12th of the month, for the following month), and get your pitch in quick next time.

As far as deadlines go, typically a prompt is announced on the 12th of the month, with a deadline of the 30th to get them written and submitted. This month, because I was late with the prompt, I've extended the final deadline. But as I said, unfortunately you can't send a pitch now, as all the slots are taken (unless of course you're prepared to go on a "standby" list in case anyone drops out - see my replies to Darren Zouga and Barry Silverstein for more information). :)
