Hmmm... I did like Gladiator (even though it's essentially a remake of the immensely underrated The Fall of the Roman Empire), but depending on the day of the week, I sometimes thing Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon should have won that year. Also, my favourite sword and sandals film is still Spartacus.

Also I agree re: Scorsese. The Departed is far from his best work.
