I actually think David Wenham is very good in the role, quite subtle and nuanced. Just listen to that heartbreaking tiny wobble in his voice when he says: "Since you are robbed of Boromir..." to his father in the third film, perfectly encapsulating the plight of a son desperately in need of a father's love.

Also, I really wish the Faramir/Eowyn love story was in the cinema cut of the third film. It's in the extended cut, but so is a lot of other superfluous material. I'd have lost a few minutes of endless battle scenes to get that love story back in. They both deserved to find happiness with one another, after all they go through.
