…n’t point to anything more than it being perceived as too similar to Alien, which is a real bummer. Alien was nearly forty years old when Life came out, and while I’m obviously not trying to diminish that film’s impact or artistry, I think enough time has passed that filmmakers shouldn’t be scorned for riffing and remixing such a classic film.

I agree. As Alien riffs go, this one is hugely enjoyable and certainly far better than Alien: Covenant (released the same year). I saw it in the cinema. :)
