I agree. I love the Return of the Jedi we got.

… But the final third of the movie we got is so satisfying that you’ll forgive Lucas’s missteps… and I can’t help feeling like George Lucas was actually more right about the direction that a third Star Wars movie should take than Gary Kurtz was.

I agree. I love the Return of the Jedi we got. Then again, I was eight when it came out, so perhaps I'm a little biased. Objectively it isn't as good as the first two.
