I am also foolish enough to write various best-of lists here on Medium, and yes, they cause nothing but masochistic hand-wringing (I likewise wind up disagreeing with myself). But they are fun to read, especially if compiled by someone with proper cinematic knowledge, such as yourself.

That video shop job sounds great. I immersed myself in film lore over a long period, though most intensely between the ages of 16 and 21. I go to the cinema at least two or three times per week, and have, at various points during my life, seen most of my favourites on a big screen either during original runs or rereleases. I still have a few to tick off the cinematic bucket list though.

Glad you got to see Star Wars on the big screen. That's another one I managed to catch in 70mm (blown up from 35mm) during the 1997 rerelease, at the Odeon Leicester Square (London). I enjoyed seeing all three of the original trilogy on rerelease around that time. :)
