I am deeply cynical about awards and couldn't give a simian's ejaculate about any of them, except for the Oscars. I really shouldn't care, and I know it. But somehow, I do. Sort of. So no, I dont really think of them as the flip side of aggregate scoring thingys. Those are a relatively recent plague, for one thing, whereas the Oscars have been a gnat in my single malt whisky since the late 1920s. Not that I've been alive that long, just to clarify. :)
