I can at least understand the childhood nostalgia factor. For me, The Goonies is my guilty pleasure childhood film (I remember seeing at the cinema during the original run when I was 10 with my father) but the truth is, objectively, it isn't a great film. It's all a bit noisy and obnoxious, though not without plus points. However, Back to the Future, which was out around the same time (in the UK at least) I also loved and it's objectively a great film.
