I completely agree with this rant.

Another observation: Based on human history, I'd say about ten percent of people are (mainly) good, and lead accordingly. About ten percent of people are (mainly) evil, and lead accordingly. The remaining eighty percent can be swayed either way. It is this eighty percent who are going to fall victim to what you describe. Sadly, most people lack the self-awareness to realise they are being reprogrammed and brainwashed. Those of us in either of the ten percent categories actively take steps to ensure we are not (and that includes the frankly odious tech bosses, who refuse to allow their children to have social media because they know what it really does to the brain).
