I concur (with the caveat that "punching down" applies to marginalised individuals rather than the organisations that claim to speak for them, which can sometimes be sanctimonious and ripe for satire).

Even the most appalling human circumstances can contain moments of cathartic dark humour. A shoe-related incident at my father's funeral, for instance, which I actually fictionalised here, if you're interested. Sorry for the comment vomit, by the way, I found this an engaging piece. :)
