I confess I'm not the biggest fan of this series. I enjoyed the first series, and haven't seen the second or third, but this fourth outing seems ploddingly one-note. Everything and everyone is grim and unlikeable, which means whatever dark malevolent force is behind the admittedly intriguing mystery seems far less potent than, say, the dark evil lurking at the heart of the infinitely superior Twin Peaks (which this seems to aspire to be, at times). So nope, for me, not even Jodie Foster can salvage this one (although I've yet to watch the final episode, which I will do, just to be done with the damn thing).
