I confess Paul irritates me at times, especially given how wildly misunderstood his comments about women have been. I understand the broader context (it's written to one church with a particularly disruptive congregation) but at the same time it can become exhausting constantly having to clarify both to those who are turned off by Christianity as a result, and to those who want to adopt the loony dogma of women-must-wear-hats-in-church-and-can't-preach, etc, etc.
Still, I give Paul full credit for bursting dumb-arse legalistic bubbles in Colossians, and for utterly demolishing so-called replacement theology in Romans 9, 10, and 11. So his achievements greatly outweigh the irritations I feel. :)
