I consider it a professional duty to see as much as I can, since I do make money from my film reviews. What's more, people constantly ask my opinion, so it is handy to have this as a reference point. It saves a lot of conversation and time.
Also, as a fiction writer, the study of storytelling that doesn't work is illuminating and instructive, so seeing a bad film, or play, or TV drama, or reading a bad novel, is never a waste of time for me in the way that it generally is for others.
Also, also... Yes, I confess I do sometimes get a kick out of writing bad reviews. Not always, but often. :)
