I definitely relate to this. I was a bad influence in such environments for bringing my 90 minute cassettes containing my favourite singles for that particular year (a regular habit of mine). It seemed to thrill one group of pop-music starved kids (due to censorial parents) and invite the censure of another group, who would shake their heads in sanctimonious "despair" at my ungodly ways. Laughable really.
The other major area I was given grief for as a teenager was my love of horror movies, but that's a whole different can of worms. Needless to say, I remain unrepentant to this day, and have even had horror novels published. I should add that my faith in God is stronger than ever. I just don't conform to idiotic, ignorant, narrow-minded evangelical views of what constitutes a Christian.
