I don't agree. I think his opinion is of more value. One can still disagree or make counterarguments, but I see a lot of ignorant remarks in social media forums about this business, and I certainly don't think these opinions are of equal merit. How many films have these people meticulously restored? How steeped are they in cinema history? It's mostly from a place of ignorance, and that greatly irritates me. But that's the internet for you.

I honestly don't see how anyone could think, say, my mother, has an equally valid opinion on this matter. Martin Scorsese is an expert, whereas my mother's knowledge is limited. He's not the only expert, but he's one of the key experts.

(My mother knows quite a bit about film, as it happens - mostly a result of having me for a son. But you take my point, I'm sure.)
