I don't agree. I love Spartacus for multiple reasons. Yes, it's a little baggy in the middle, but come the emotional punch of the final act, it hardly matters. Also, many of the setpieces are Kubrickian, such as the gladiator death match that sparks the revolt, and the big battle later on with the Roman ranks marching like tiny ants on the hillside. Both have the undoubted stamp of Kubrickian style, even if he did disown the film, and even if he didn't have final cut.
