I don't agree with this, partly because the goal posts constantly move, and if we keep returning to texts again and again to tinker, we end up in a situation like "Newspeak" and the Ministry of Truth in Nineteen Eighty-Four. Where does it end?

Novels ought to be products of their time, and so should films. Good forbid anyone start censoring Temple of Doom and so forth (although Disney+ do that sort of thing all the time, which is why I'm a staunch physical media advocate).
