I don't do streaming and I never will. From the moment it was conceived, I knew it would end in the nonsense you describe here, like any other commercial TV station. I have stuck with my own physical media library, which I started in 1989 with VHS tapes. I then converted to DVD in 2000, as well as more recently Blu Ray and 4K. I haven't deviated from that and I never will. The same applies to music and books, by the way. Physical media only.

You give excellent reasons for physical media only here. Having to pay for any platform that gives ads is absurd, and it is equally absurd that one would have to pay more for an ad free version. Plus your point about ruining end credits with squashed screens whilst obnoxious ads run is equally important. Imagine watching something as powerful and moving as Schindler's List, only for John Williams's haunting score and the end credits to be squashed and bludgeoned by commercials? It's cultural vandalism and profoundly inappropriate.

I give several more reasons for the importance of physical media here, if you're interested (including the hideous spectre of censorship).
