I don't know if this will prove helpful, but I wrote a six part series aimed at parents who wish to brainwash their children into being cineastes (as I have done with mine - hahahahaha!). This series contains many suggestions for classic films from various renowned directors, film movements, etc. Obviously, it isn't exhaustive, but it's a start.
