I don't necessarily have a problem with politics in Star Wars. What I have a problem with is the ploddingly dull way Star Wars used politics in the prequels. It's also worth bearing in mind that, by design, the original Star Wars trilogy is thrill-a-minute escapist fantasy of the Saturday matinee variety. That is one of many reasons it has endured. It was never intended to be Dune. Therefore, an excessive focus on politics over derring-do is foolish.

In my not remotely humble opinion, politics should have been relegated to the background in the prequels. Here's how I would have approached them:
