I don't see how anyone could approach this with "snark". Here's my take on why. :)

 favor and s…lore and pulled out a story of a possession that would be endlessly imitated in movies to this day. Do yourself a favor and set your modern snark aside to try and see this film how moviegoers of the day saw it. There had been nothing like it before.
