I don't think Renny Harlin has John McTiernan's more subtle visual sensibilities.

As in the fist movie, red is a recurring color motif. But here, it generally appears in the form of harsh neon lighting conveying the overwhelming pall cast by technology rather than the warmth of Christmas.
