I expected this to be blasphemy against Cleese, whom I consider the funniest person in history for his myriad contributions (Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, A Fish Called Wanda, etc, etc). But I was pleasantly surprised, on the whole. I think the move to GB News is potentially unwise (I can't say I've ever watched the channel, but am aware of the "right wing" reputation). However, I refuse to join in braying mobs berating "angry old white men". They are incredibly reductive, tedious, and lacking in humanity. I despise mobs of any kind that indulge in sweeping demonisation of entire groups of people.

I actually think Cleese is right about people feeling as though they're walking on eggshells trying not to offend these days (especially in alleged comedies). Dismissing this as the rantings of an old white man is lazy and foolish. However, badly he may be making the point, he still has a point.
