I find Orlando Bloom (or "Orloondo Bland", as Mark Kermode calls him), a rather tepid leading man. I think the only films in which I've thoroughly enjoyed his performance are The Lord of the Rings trilogy. All that said, Kingdom of Heaven remains a damn good film in extended form, and almost Bloom proof. I take your point about a different leading man, but in that case, why not cast an unknown? It didn't necessarily need a big star, as you say. :)
