I for one do, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Still, you make some interesting points here about serialising one's novel online and whatnot. I couldn't stop writing novels if I wanted to. The voices in my head won't shut up. Will anyone read them? Having been both traditionally published (with a small press) and self-published, I can certainly agree that mileage will vary. The most successful novel I ever released, by far, is Children of the Folded Valley, and that was self-published ten years ago with none of the fanfare or marketing I'd use today. In contrast, my traditionally published novels (all three of them) made peanuts, and they at least had a modicum of marketing behind them. I've long since given up trying to understand the logic behind all that.
