I hate it for many reasons: 1) badly acted, badly choreographed, ridiculous soap opera characters, especially the young bloke she was going to marry. 2) It sticks in my craw on a moral level: The message is essentially having a promiscuous mother is more important than knowing who your father is. Total bullshit.

It's a bit personal, because at a former church I attended, I was castigated for being into horror films (naturally, I'm used to it), but the church saw no issue with running Mamma Mia on a movie night, despite it's arguably pro-pagan worldview, and the aforementioned issue I mentioned concerning the protagonist's paternity.

Don't get me wrong: I don't believe in any Christian telling another what they can and cannot watch (that's between them and God). But the sheer hypocrisy of all concerned massively pissed me off. Just because Mamma Mia has a PG certificate and, say, The Exorcist has an 18 certificate, doesn't mean the 18 certificate film is automatically more anti-Christian than the PG certificate film.

A further rant on this subject can be found here, if you're interested. :)
