I have and do use that word, and this context is a great place for it.

hat word but…ons of a penny, per view — would be something. The lion’s share should always go to the writer. But the idea that publications provide nothing worthy of recompense — when editors help shape a story; strengthen titles and header images; tighten up the text; provide an audience; and promote it, all of which directly contributes to the writer’s bottom line — is poppycock (I have never once used that word but it felt appropriate).
