I have never been able to understand why people listen to the frequently ill-informed political opinions of pop stars, actors, and other celebrities.

One example that particularly had me laughing was when Sean Penn urged the British to give the Falklands back to the "indigenous people". What indigenous people? The puffins? The Falklands are populated by British citizens who have voted in referendums time and time again (with an almost 100 percent majority each time) that they wish to remain British subjects. Unlike the conflict in the Israel, there are no other factions on the island claiming the land. No one's opinion should matter but the islanders, and the islanders have spoken loud and clear.

I wonder if Penn's views on giving land back to the indigenous people extends to his own country? At any rate, his opinion on this is clearly idiotic, but I'll grant he's a fine actor.
