I have no problem with teachers and medical staff being respected. The police? It depends. I'm naturally dubious of them for all kinds of reasons. Here in the UK they are more benign and less corrupt than their US counterparts (I've personally witnessed some horrendous and downright racist abuses of police power in the US), but I still have a lot of issues with the way they carry on.

And I simply cannot bear mindless bureaucracy. So yes, whilst I'd love to visit, I think living in China is out of the question. The film censorship aspect alone puts the kibosh of it for me, in any case.
