I have smoked a grand total of two cigarettes in my life, and found it vile on both occasions. But I suppose my sympathy for smokers is more an "on principle" thing, despite what you assert above (which I mostly agree with - although smoking in films like Casablanca just looks cool, and I can't get past that).
