I know you don't want pity, but I do want to say this was a powerfully written piece that I found very moving. Such a traumatic event is bound to have a deep impact, but the indomitable, good-humoured, courageous spirit inherent in your writing to me indicates something of immense beauty emerged from the (quite literal) ashes.
