I love both, but for completely different reasons. However, if you really want to be pedantic, the version of Blade Runner released in 1982 is the compromised studio cut, with the ludicrous happy ending (compiled from outtakes from the opening of The Shining), the Marlowe-esque voiceover (which Harrison Ford recorded deliberately badly in the hope they wouldn't use it), and key footage missing (the unicorn dream sequence). I much prefer the later director's cut and better still the final cut (which made a couple more minor tweaks and restored some violence that had originally been censored). So on that basis, choosing E.T. over Blade Runner becomes much simpler.
