I love Ishiguro normally, but this one left me cold, despite the intriguing premise. Dystopian stories of this kind need to culminate in an act of rebellion to feel satisfying (as in The Handmaid's Tale, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Fahrenheit 451, and The Hunger Games, for instance), not just having the characters accept their fate, no matter how "realistic" that might be.

Now, The Remains of the Day on the other hand... Wow. What a novel. :)
