I love it unrepentantly. Dances with Wolves is a big, bold, beautiful film with its heart definitely in the right place. What's more, I don't think it is fair to call it a "white saviour" film. If anything, the Sioux save him.

Generally, I like Kevin Costner a lot too (save Prince of Thieves).
