I love The Chronicles of Narnia unrepentantly, including The Horse and His Boy which, political incorrectness aside, is a wonderfully entertaining tale. I read them as a child, and my children read them. I make no apologies. I don't believe in censoring anything. I also love the His Dark Materials trilogy, by the way, so I'm not just saying that as a Christian.
My biggest issue with the Narnia stories is one bit in The Last Battle where Lewis clumsily suggest Susan doesn't go to heaven with the others because she's too into boys and make-up, which is preposterous, even from a hardline evangelical Christian perspective. I realise the book technically doesn't say that - Susan is still living after all - but it implies it, and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Still, I like the rest of The Last Battle, clumsy antichrist allegory and all, especially the notion of this world being shadows of the real thing, etc, etc. :)
