I must confess I wasn't mad about Encanto. To your question, however, I suppose it depends on the nature of what I'm writing. With a novel, I sometimes leave earlier drafts on the shelf for a year or more, returning to them with fresh eyes, so I can see the wood for the trees. That frees me from being too much of a perfectionist. But I confess, I am rather a slave to the voices in my head when it comes to productivity.
