I must say I agree with much (though not all) of this sentiment. There are many films considered "geek culture" that I revere as great, iconic cinema (especially the heyday of Lucas and Spielberg, and Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lord of the Rings). All that said, it is absolutely absurd for "geek culture" to dominate film and television to the point it does. Some of it is perfectly fine, but it is now way, way out of hand. A wide variety of storytelling and genre is in the best interests of all. My loyalty is first and foremost to cinema, not obscure corners of geek culture. That's why I have no tolerance for the kinds of nonsense being spouted about The Rings of Power. Don't like it? Stick to the novels and leave the rest of us to judge it objectivel on its own merits.
I don't know if you saw this article I wrote fairly recently, but if you look under the "Pop Culture Penelope" section, you'll see where I mention the darker side of geek culture, and the reaction to The Rings of Power is a perfect example.
