I probably am now as well. Since leaving my television job of over 23 years in 2020 (I was made redundant in aftermath of a corporate takeover and restructure), I've found that I'm a square peg in a round hole with potential employers, for all the reasons you describe here. On the other hand, because I'd developed a writing career on the side, outside of my day job, I was able to reinvent myself as a freelance writer, and quite honestly, I no longer want any kind of normal job. I'm happy being my own boss as a novelist, freelance writer (I still get freelance assignments from old TV contacts), what I do here on Medium (mostly writing about film), and various other projects I work on as an independent contractor.
