I really must give Veep a watch sometime, as I love political satire. My absolute favourite is still Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister - a BBC series from the late 1970s/1980s. The Thick Of It does a similar job, but with swearing.
Incidentally, Veep was overseen by one of my satirical comedy heroes, Armando Ianucci (who was responsible for another of my favourite satirical creations, Alan Partridge, as well as The Day Today, and more recently films like The Death of Stalin). Ianucci left Veep after series 4, which might explain why the quality suffered afterwards.
