I saw Avatar projected on film in 3D, and I have to say I still wasn't impressed. I'm not a fan of 3D to be honest in any case. I dislike the compromises on contrast and colour, and it gives me a headache. That said, the use of 3D was clever in Gravity and Hugo.

Regarding Dune, the upcoming film only covers the first third or so of the novel. As a fan of the book, I'm curious to see it. I wasn't a big fan of the Sci-Fi Channel series either, even though it was more faithful to the book. It lacked the epic vision of a maverick director.
